Each extinguisher has a punch tag attached, which serves as a record of past inspections. The tag includes:

• Months of the year
• Past, present, and future years

When an inspector checks the extinguisher, they will punch a hole in the month and year they performed the inspection.

1. Locate the most recent punched hole – This marks the last inspection date.
2. Refer to the extinguisher’s tag for the required inspection frequency – The timeframe for the next inspection depends on the extinguisher’s size and location (this information is found on the back of the tag under "List Service Performed").
3. Check if the current date falls within the required inspection period – If the necessary time frame has passed, it’s time for another inspection.
